Now you can do the same with our £699 or less 2024 offer!
Newly-engaged Amelia Mather-Peck had given up on finding her dream wedding dress after scouring bridal boutiques for something she liked and that fell within her budget.
“My absolute ceiling price was around £1,000 but I couldn’t find anything for that I liked, so I ended up spending £90 on an ASOS dress which I thought would have to do,” she explained.
“Then my mother-in-law persuaded me to have one more look, and a friend recommended Peggy to me as she’d just got her dress from there and had a great experience.”
Amelia, from Sheffield, booked an appointment and tried on three gowns, joking to one of our wedding dress consultants:
“If you have anything by Vivienne Westwood hidden in the back, I’ll have that!”
“The consultant, Amy, brought me a Vera Wang dress instead and I tried it on and immediately fell in love with it. It was £2,236, which was way over my budget and I didn’t think I could keep stretching it.”
However, just days later the Black Friday sale arrived, and so Amelia headed back to the store at 8:30am to make sure she was first in line when the doors opened, securing the beautiful gown for £1060.
She said it was “nothing like” what she imagined she’d be wearing for her wedding day, describing her style as a bit ‘boho’.
But she credits Amy at Peggy with helping her to find something that she wouldn’t have considered.
“I knew what I wanted, but because I hadn’t found anything I was going to just make do. When I went to Peggy I was like ‘wow’ and thought that I just might be able to get something more ‘me’.
Amelia married groom Alex in October at a Sheffield museum in a perfect day, and the dreamy dress was the icing on the cake.
“I felt lovely in it, a bit like a princess – without sounding too lame! I thought I would be more boho on my wedding day, but for such a special day it was nice to have a beautiful silhouette and feel so ‘centre stage’ and classy,” she said.
“I felt like I could have just jetted off to the Met Gala! I am never going to get an invite for the Oscars, but this was my Oscar dress.”
Amelia, who is a drama and dance practitioner, is encouraging any brides-to-be to visit the stores in Holmfirth and York for this Black Friday sale, adding:
“I have four friends who are engaged and I’ve told them all to go.
“I definitely recommend them to other brides, they really do know what they’re doing and you might just end up with an absolute steal!”
We are holding our biggest ever Black Friday sale this year in each of our Peggy stores in Holmfirth and York, with every designer dress offered at just £699 or less.
